This dinner bell used to be used for gathering folks for dinner. 

My grandmother warned us not to ring it too long when I was young. 

She said neighbors would think there was a fire or some other disaster.  The nearest neighbor is still 1/4 mile away. 

We use the bell now to gather folks together for dinner, announcements, etc.
 This picture was taken in the winter.  Those are icicles hanging off the bell and bell tower.
